Portfolio
This is my collection of freelance web development projects, (more or less) in chronological order.
In recent years, I have found more and more freelance web development opportunities. In February 2006, I started a small development company with Ben Liles, a former co-worker from the Computer Science Department.
Liles & Tarpley Web Development made for a long domain name so we truncated the name to LT Web Development LLC [www.ltwebdev.com]
Recent Professional Projects
The recent projects below are those which I have worked on since the formation of LT Web Development LLC.
Active For Life National Program Office at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, School of Rural Public Health
- Website design, branding and web application development
- Application development, interface design
- Hand coded XHTML & CSS, Python
- Customized web applications and content management system built on an open source development framework
These are early design mockups for our current project. LT is developing a website, content management system and a series of web based applications for the Learning Network for Active Aging.
Health Science Center, Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health
- Touch screen kiosk
- Application development, interface design
- Hand coded XHTML & CSS, PHP. Operating system and application customization
Ben Liles and I are wrapping up development of a custom touch screen kiosk. Several kiosks will be deployed to rural doctors offices around Texas in a pilot program for diabetes education.
The kiosk has been developed as a web application. The app utilizes PHP for all scripting, templating and automation. The content is all stored in XHTML. We believe this will promote ease of modification and addition of new content. I also designed a custom user interface and original graphics for this application.
Scott M Pike
URL: http://faculty.cs.tamu.edu/pike
- Faculty website for Scott M. Pike:
Associate Faculty, Department of Computer Science, Texas A&M University - http://faculty.cs.tamu.edu/pike
- Site design and web application development
- Hand coded XHTML & CSS, custom PHP, javascript and database development
- Custom database for Dr. Pike's scholarly publications.
I designed and built Dr. Pike's faculty website using XHTML & CSS for the layout. This site includes a web-based application that allows Scott to post his scholarly publications online. The publication database was constructed using PHP and MySQL. I also wrote a simple template system in PHP for this site.
Liles & Tarpley Web Development LLC
URL: www.ltwebdev.com
Liles & Tarpley Web Development LLC is a small business Ben Liles and I are building. This is a simple informational website for our company. We have grand plans for this site but for the time being, they will have to wait. Ben and I have been blessed with
an abundance of business over the past year so it has not been possible to expand the functionality or refine the design of our web site. This is far from a terrible problem.
Boss Game Systems
I created this mockup for a proposed site redesign for a local College Station Company.
Aggieland Limos
(formerly D&D Limos)
URL: www.ddlimos.com
D&D Limos is now Aggieland Limos. This website is still at www.ddlimos.com. The site will be moved to a new URL for Aggieland soon.
Old Projects
organization: Tower Hotel & Suites
url: http://www.jeremytarpley.com/hotel
technologies: XHTML, CSS,
description: Formerly www.towerhotelandsuites.com. This was a brochure webpage for Tower Hotel and Suites in College Station Texas. This page is handcoded, W3C compliant XHTML and CSS. It uses a pure CSS layout.
organization: Texas A&M Student Service Fee Advisory Board (SSFAB)
url: http://www.jeremytarpley.com/ssfab
technologies: XHTML, CSS
description: In late January 2004, I was commissioned by a member of the Texas A&M Student Service Fee
Advisory Board to create the official website for their organization. This is a template for that site. This site is fully W3C compliant XHTML. All layout
is controlled through CSS, there are no tables used for layout.
Unfortunately, unknown to me - the TAMU Division of Student Affairs was also asked to develop this site. Student Affairs is responsible
for maintaining the SSFAB website so it was easier for them to use their own design. The official website for SSFAB was once
located at ssfab.tamu.edu. It appears to have been taken down.
organization: Bluebonnet Travel Council
(created for Cybercom, an ISP in College Station)
url: www.jeremytarpley.com/bbsite
technologies: XHTML, CSS
description: I created this XHTML template and a stylesheet for a website Cybercom
is developing. They needed a professional design on a tight deadline. I created this template in less than a day. I will post
the URL of the actual site as soon as it is online.
organization: D&D Moving and Storage
url: www.ddmovers.com
technologies: HTML, CSS, PHP
description: Corporate web site for D&D Moving in College Station, this site is now in its second version.
organization: University Tower [BCSK Properties]
url: www.universitytower.com
technologies: HTML, CSS, Flash, PHP
description: Well, I cant take credit for the hideous layout of the site at this URL. UniversityTower.com was taken over by someone after I graduated and moved out of the Tower. They have completely mangled the layout, so much of the site no longer resembles the site I created. I will try to upload a copy of the old site. I am not saying that my site was a masterpiece but I believed it looked good for my first full website. The original was a complete web site for University Tower in College Station - a Private Dormitory.
College work:
Web Application Development (INFO 420) - June & July 2003
*THIS SITE IS FINALLY UP AGAIN! It was hosted on the business school's webserver, they upgraded it to ASP.NET and broke this site (it was written in ASP...)
I finally found a place to host the site for free! (www.1asphost.com/)
INFO 420 Team website - Site I developed in an hour for my INFO 420 group.
INFO 420 Semester Project
- A working e-commerce site developed with my 420 group in ASP for this class.
E-Services (INFO 489)
Fall 2003 CMIS Business Case Competition - Functional prototype of a web-based solution for a business problem. I developed this
prototype in 4 days by using the stylesheet from jeremytarpley.com.
Tech Writing (ENGL 301)
Website Instruction Manual [PDF] - A fictional developer manual for the University Tower web site.
